The pattern across this era is consistent: the Mega Hyper Rare and the top one or two Special Illustration Rares carry most of a set's value, a second tier of SIRs settles in the RM250–650 band, and almost everything else becomes affordable within weeks. Expect Pitch Black to follow the same shape — a headline Mega chase card at the top, then a steep drop.
How launch week usually goes (and how not to overpay)
- Days 1–7 are the most expensive days to buy singles. Supply is thin, hype is loudest, and early listings price for FOMO. If history repeats, most Pitch Black cards will be cheaper in week 3 than in week 1.
- Sealed vs singles: if you want specific cards, buying the singles is almost always cheaper than chasing them from booster boxes. Sealed is for fun or for holding, not an efficient way to hit one chase card.
- Pre-order prices beat launch-week prices more often than not. If your LGS or Shopee/Lazada pre-order is still open at RRP, that's usually the sane entry.
